Metahuman Rig Becoming Industry Standard

Another week of Unreal news. In case you do not know last week I launched a new course on Udemy Covering UEFN called - Fortnite Creation Unleashed: Build Your First Island Today!

You can check it out with the link above 🚀

The Metahuman body control rig and face rig are quickly becoming industry standard for Unreal not just limited to use with Metahumans!

Reallusion the creators of Character Creator 4, the largest 3D program for creating animatable humans, has announced that characters created through their program will be compatible with Metahuman control rigs.

This means that animations you create or own for Metahumans and the Unreal mannequin are compatible with Character Creator 4 and vice versa. Now all of our animations, motion capture data, and face animations created with Metahuman Animator can be used by characters created outside of Metahuman Creator.

This makes the process of animating and creating films significantly faster. We don’t have to juggle multiple different control rigs and animations incompatible with each other. Hopefully other character creation softwares follow suit!

A great free resource for Unreal developers is the Unreal Directive created by Dylan Amos. The website was recently redesigned with two great features in mind: Asset Naming Convention and Console Variable lookups.
