Trench Warfare Assets and Groundbreaking Unreal Short

Hi everyone 👋,

Some news from the past month!

A wooden First World War trench with burning debris and rifles leaning against the walls.

Jacob Norris’s Sierra Division released a free asset pack that contains all the assets you need for WWI style trench warfare. Sierra Division is a 3D outsourcing content creation team with industry veterans from Naughty Dog and other game studios. If you want to see what a high quality Unreal asset is make sure to check out this free pack! Also this pairs well with the Megascans Military Trench sample. Now you can get hundreds of assets for any trench battle you are creating.

Check out this groundbreaking film by Masterclass Member Daniel Magyar made entirely in Unreal Engine 5. It is a full 27 minute film that tells the story of a time traveller sent back in time to save the U.S. President. The quality is top notch and it is the first time I have seen a TV episode long story told in engine. It is a great showcase of Unreal’s feature such as Metahumans and sequencer.

Finally Unreal’s new next generation terrain system has been added to the indevelopment build of UE5.8 on Github. Already developers like Tore Lervik and Dylan Browne are showcasing the power and flexibility this system has. Compared to the old landscape mode which has largely been the same since UE3, the difference is night and day and is a must needed change opening up new creative possibilities. You can expect a course and YouTube video when this releases.

Stay tune for a new video on the channel about materials released in the next couple of weeks!

See you next time 👋,
